OBITS FROM THE WEST UNION ASSOCIATION OF UNITED BAPTISTS MINUTES
Lawhorn, Mary Jane---Was born January 20, 1868 in Russell County, Ky.
Departed this life May 8, 1960.  Age 92 years, 3 months and 18 days.  She
was united in marriage to John Calvin Tompkins who preceded her in death 35
years ago.  To this union was born six children, four boys and two girls:
Willie of Armathwaite, Harrison of Rugby, Mrs. Ada Sewell of Armathwaite,
Dewey of Armathwaite; Andrew and Betty Florence having preceded her in
death.  Other relatives left to mourn her absence are one brother, Ray
Lawhorn, one sister, Mrs. Della Farris, both of Sparta, Tenn.; 18
grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and a
host of other relatives and friends.  She professed a hope in Christ early
in life, joined the Fellowship Baptist Church in August, 1907 where she
remained a member until her death.  She often prayed for her grandchildren
that they would all be saved and requested that all meet her in that
beautiful place to which she was going.  One from us is gone.  A voice we lo
ved is stilled.  A place is vacant in our home.  Which never can be filled.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh, blessed be the name of the Lord.
