Funeral services were conducted May 3 at 2 p.m. at Gillham - Buchanan Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Walker officiating. Burial was in Jacksonville, Ill. East Cemetery. Born Sept. 30, 1915, in Wayne County, Ky., to the late James and Lona Denney Martin, he was a truck driver for Jenkinson Grocer Company for many years and was a city bus driver. He was a member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Church and Teamsters Union Local 916. Also he was a veteran of World Mar II. He was married to Hazel Smith, September 1939 in Bowling Green, Mo. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Smith, Illinois; six sons; Raymond Martin, Colorado Springs, Colo., Bill, Earl, Ron and Fred Martin, all of Jacksonville, Ill., and Wayne Martin, of Springfield,; three daughters, Phyllis Simmons, Judy Hoots, and Nancy McClure, all of Jacksonville; 20 grandchildren, 2 great - grandchildren; a brother, Harry Martin, and two sisters, Evaline Everingham, and Lonnie Kitselman, all of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Gillham - Buchanan Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Ill. was in charge of arrangements.
