Manford E., Jr., departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 1952, about 11 p.m. as a result of an automobile accident near Esto, Florida. He was born at Oneida, Tennessee, December 22, 1931. He was 20 years, 8 months and 25 days of age. He professed a hope in Christ at the age of 14 and joined the First Baptist Church of Oneida, Tennessee. On October 2, 1948, he transferred his membership to the Paint Rock Baptist Church. He loved the Bible and his favorite reading was the 27th Psalm. He was very active in all phases of church work--a very devout and faithful Christian boy. Junior (as he was often called) enlisted in the United States Army May 16. He served three and one half years in Austria and Germany. After having returned from overseas duty, on March 12, 1952, he was married to Una Vee Owens of Oneida, Tennessee. At the time of his death he and his wife were living at Camp Rucker, Alabama. Sgt. Sexton has just received a large trophy for having been selected the best drill instructor at Camp Rucker. He had also been recommended for additional promotion in rank. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Una Vee, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Manford E. Sexton, Sr., of Helenwood, Tennessee, Route No. 1, brothers, Captain Roy Denver Sexton, who is now somewhere in Korea; Tommy Burton of Knoxville; Donald Gordon, Charles Bruce and Landon Carter all of Helenwood Tennessee, Route 1. Sisters, Mrs. Aron Jones of Oak Ridge; Mrs. William E. York of Huntsville; Mrs. Irel B. Reed of Ft. Campbell, Ky.; Mrs. Fayrene Sexton of Nashville, Annette, Edwina and Judy of Helenwood, Ten., Route 1. Grandmother, Mrs. Rachel R. Sexton of Oneida, several uncles, aunts and cousins and other relatives and a host of friends.
