FROM THE WEST UNION ASSOCIATION OF UNITED BAPTISTS MINUTES, 1951
Tompkins, J. C.---Was born Dec. 29, 1876, he died November 19, 1950, age 73
years, 10 months, 21 days. He was married to Florence Etta Peters Dec. 2,
1900, to this union were ten children, seven boys and three girls. Two of
them Virgil, the oldest son and Donnie the oldest daughter, preceded him in
death. Those who are living are Lawrence, Everett, Calvin, L.D., Danzie and
Wilda, all of Armathwaite, Clarence of Dayton, Ohio, Willis of Jamestown,
one brother Alex of Cordava, Ala., three sisters, Mrs. J. H. Ward of
Burrville, Tenn., Mrs. Thomas Kimbrell of Itasca, Texas and Mrs. A. B.
Brooks of Phoenix, Arizona.  He leaves to mourn: his companion, 8 children, 
17 grandchildren, 3 sisters and a host of relatives and friends. He professed 
a hope in Christ and joined the Fellowship Baptist Church August 1, 1891, 
where he remained a true Christian until death.
