He was born May 26, 1927, in Parker's Lake, KY the son of Elmer and Zola (Lewis) Taylor. He married Jean Kinnard on Oct 17, 1978 and she survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Joyce) Koening of St. Mary's, Ohio and Mrs. Mike (Delores) Stephens of Tampa Florida; two step sons, Bill Bordac of Los Angeles California, and Scott Bordac of Barberton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Steve (Chris) Wilson of Rittman; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emmitt (Pearl) Miller of Whitley City, KY and two brothers, Alva Taylor of Muncie, Indiana and Burton Taylor of Dublin, Va. Two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Stearns High School in Stearns, KY. He was a veteran of the U S Navy and served during WW II. He retired after 40 years at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, in St. Marys. He was the owner of Taylor'd Sound by Sam and Taylor'd Lawn and Landscaping Service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 323, St. Marys, and the New Knoxville Historical Society, where he was famous for his bean and chili soup served at the open house in the fall. Service will be held at 11 am Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev Ron Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Mary's. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 - 8 PM at Miller Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the New Bremen Emergency Squad or Hillsdale Baptist Church.
