This is where my great great grandparents are buried, Jonathan Grable and Elizabeth J. (Wright) Benham. Three months later I named my youngest son after Jonathan. In Aug. 2000 I went to the cemetery and copied the rest of the information I’d missed, including any epitaphs that I could read. Hope this helps someone. The Benham Cemetery is located on Wintergreen Site in Doe Valley Estates. Directions from Hwy. 1638 entrance to Doe Valley Estates. Please stop at the guard house and get a visitor pass, turn right at Doe Valley Rd., go two miles to Wintergreen Rd. and turn left ( you will pass a blue water tower on the right, Wintergreen Rd. will be the second street on the left ) turn right at first street Wintergreen Site, pass four houses on the left and the cemetery is on the hill left side of the street between two houses. The small cemetery has a fence around it and a small gate. There are 18 tombstones and other graves in this cemetery that don’t have stones. His first wife was Josephine Elizabeth Coleman, believed to be buried in Coleman cemetery. Elizabeth was his second wife. The Benham cemetery is a few hundred feet from where the old Benham home place stood. Jonathan first purchased land in Meade County in 1859. He purchased the land from his brother William N.Benham that he inheirted from his mother. By the late 1800’s he had purchased over 500 acres of land in the Rockridge area.
