THE HUNCH UP CEMETERY

This Cemetery  is located on the hillside behind fire tower off of Liberty
Road, near Battletown.  There was an old school (the foundation stones are
still there) located here at one time.  Possibly the same building was used
for Church services also as it was near the same spot. The property is now
owned by Mr. Jake Hamilton.

Note:  Mr. C. C. Singleton said that this cemetery derived its unusual name
of HUNCHUP because of its location on the hill and you would “hunch-up” your
back to climb to the plot.
