It was called by my family the "Staples' Family Cemetery," but I have heard it called the Steve Hardin/Bob Riddle Cemetery and the William Hardin Cemetery. The person who owned this cemetery recently sold the land in two sections and the new owners have run a fence through the middle and I am afraid it will disappear soon. There are only three readable tombstones left in the cemetery, but evidence of several grave sites. I suspect at least one Revolutionary War Veteran Joshua Rentfro, fought with the Henry County, VA , Militia with General Greene he was born 07/01/1757 and died 09/15/1815. One of his daughters and two son-in-laws are buried there. I also suspect my G-g-g-grandfather Samuel Staples born 1784, died 1816. Below is the stone transcriptions that can be read. In Memory of Ruth Staples Late Consort Of Samuel Staples Departed this life April 7th 1830 Aged 44 years Here Lies The Remains Of John Staples He Was Born Oct 13th AD 1785 Died 1815 His foot stone reads. John Staples was born Oct ? and departed this life the 27th July 1815 Sacred to the memory of Catharine E. Staples Late Consort of John H. Staples who departed this life March 20th 1833 Aged 23 years and 7 months There is also a fragment of stone found that read died April ? Aged 24 years Transcribed by : Dennis Staples, Gray, Ga 31032
