To the Honorable the Circuit Court for Mercer County sitting in Chancery - Humbly Complaining showeth unto your Honory your Oratrix Mary Finley. That your Oratrix intermarried with a certain George Finley about twenty two years ago, that she continued to live with this said husband until she had nine children and during that time performed all the duties of a faithful and loving wife. That her said husband George Finley who she prays may be made a defendant to this her will not regarding the endearing ties which ought to have induced him to have used every exertion for the support of your Oratrix and her children has left your Oratrix and children with an intention of abandonment for the space of more than four years and did declare that he would not support her any longer your Oratrix has since the abandonment aforsaid with the assistance of a kind father and her own exertions, been enabled to support herself and her dear children and she now has a prospect of raising her children, if she could in safety be permitted to enjoy the title property she has accumulated ..?..as her husband has discarded her and refuses to live with her she has reason to fear that she will be disturbed in the enjoyment of what she has acquired by her industry. She therefore pray your Honorable Court to grant her a divorce according to the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided and she also prays that her husband be compelled to answer all and singular the premisses and that he will say has ..?.. not abandoned her for more than two years and left her to support the family aforesaid. What property has he in possession or a right to, and that you will grant such other and further relief as shall be consistent and your Oratrix as in duty bound will pray. Mary Finley by J.
