Witnesseth that the said Jeremiah Briscoe & Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the Sum of Six hundred & twenty eight Dollars to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained sold aliened & confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Samuel McGinnis & his Heirs forever One Certain tract or Parcel of land Containing Seventy eight and an half acres Situate lying and being in Mercer County On the waters of Chaplin and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a buckeye Tree Corner to McB????, thence S2E 129 poles to a Sugar & white Oak trees a corner to George Caton, then N89E 53 poles to an Ironwood Hickory and Ash a corner to said McGinnis thence N2W 217 poles to an Hickory and Ironwood in Joel Comptons line, thence S89W 63 [or 65] poles to an Hickory Beech and Ash trees Corner to William Taylor thence S2E 88 poles to an Oak and two Ironwoods corner to said Taylor thence N89E 12 poles to the Beginning, with its appurtenances To have and to hold the Said Tract or Parcel of land with its appurtenances to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel McGinnis and his Heirs forever. And the said Jeremiah Briscoe and Elizabeth his wife for themselves their Heirs &c the said land Premises unto the said Samuel McGinnis & his Heirs shall and will forever warrant and defend against the claim or claims of all and every Other Person or Persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof the Said Jeremiah Briscoe & Elizabeth his wife have hereunto Set their hands & affixed their Seals the day and year above written. This day Elizabeth Briscoe wife of Jeremiah Briscoe a party to the within Deed Personally appeared before us James Caldwell and Samuel Ewing two of the Commonwealth Justices of the Peace in & for said County and being examined Seperate & apart from her Husband relinquished her right of Dower to the within mentioned Tract of land & Consents that the same should be entered of record.
