All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ky/kyfiles.html ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Linda Deppner http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00012.html#0002870 October 30, 2004, 9:41 pm Written: October 23 1824 Recorded: November 1 1824 Deed Book 13, page 287 This Indenture made this 23d day of October 1824 Between Samuel McGinnis Sen'r and Mary his Wife of the County of Mercer & State of Kentucky of the one part and Samuel McGinnis Jun'r of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the Said Samuel McGinnis Sen'r & Mary his wife for and in consideraton of the sum of Eight hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath given [another "given" crossed out] granted bargained sold aliend & confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain Sell alien and confirm unto the said Samuel McGinnis Jun'r & his heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres situate lying & being in the County aforesaid and on the waters of Chaplain and bounded as follows To wit Beginning at a white oak in William Douglasses line & running with said line N58E 101 poles to a cherry tree & horn beam corner to Isaac Savier thence N1W 170 poles to a stone & Small beech corner to the same in Benjamin Durhams line thence S85W 84 poles to a Stone in Royal Hankleys line thence S1E 118 poles to a Stone Between two large beech trees thence N85E 7 poles to a large beech thence S10-1/2W 96 poles to a honey locust in the lane on the East bank of branch thence S71E 61-3/4 poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances to have & to hold the said land and premises with all its appurtenances to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel McGinnis Jun'r & his heirs forever and the said Samuel McGinnis Sen'r. and Mary his wife Shall & will forever warrant and defend the said land & premises against the claim of their heirs or claims of all & every other person whatsoever. In Testimony whereof the said Samuel McGinnis Sen'r and Mary his wife hath hereunto set their hands & affixed their seals this day day & date above written. Mays Mercer County Sct This day Mary McGinnis a party to the within Indenture personally appeared before us two of the Commonwealths Justices for the County aforesaid & being examined separate & apart from her husband freely & voluntarily relinquished her right of Dower to the within described tract of land & consented that the same should be entered of record.
