Date: 6 Sep 1830 He has not applied before, owing to the kindness of Joseph Morgan, Esq. he has been permitted to live on a small piece of land belonging to Morgan. He is by trade a cooper. His family consists of himself wife. Widow: ANNE SMOCK Thomas Allin, Clerk of Mercer Co presents records that Samuel Britton married Anne Smock, 25 Jul 1799 by Rev. John McGraw. He further states the Will of Samuel Brittan was presented in court Oct 1834. Robert McAfee says he is well aquainted with Samuel Britton who died in Mercer Co he has resided in this county since McAfee was a boy. Their surviving children were: Cynthia Craig of Anderson Co., Ky; Barnett Britton of Louisville., Ky.; Samuel Britton of Mercer Co., Ky. --- Felix Matheny in 1855, who keeps a store in Salvisa finds in his books, that sold on 12 Apr 1851 was shrouding for the burial of Mrs. Ann Britton, widow of Samuel. She died in Anderson Co at the home of her grandson, Thomas J. Powell. Affiant 1: Lucinda Craig Resident of Mercer Co., Ky near 58 years. One of the children of Samuel Anne Britton. Anne died in Anderson Co on April 12 or 13, 1851 at the home of my son. Samuel Britton died in Sept 1834 about the 14th. They had other children but they died in infancy..only 3 survive. "My proper name is Lucinda but some refer to me as Cinda or Cynthia". Affiant 2: Barnett Brittan Resident of Louisville., Ky, one of the children of Samuel Anne Britton, appts C.H.Barkely his atty. Affiant 3: Samuel Brittan Jr. Resident of Mercer Co, is the administrator of the estate of Anne Britton dec'd. He was the 9th child of Samuel Anne Britton. Affiant 4: Jeremiah Brittan 1830, resident of Spencer Co he is the brother of Samuel Brittan, Sr..they enlisted together in the spring of 1776. Affiant 5: Peter Huff a resident of Mercer Co., Ky states Samuel Brittan was a school mate of his. Other: Thomas J. Powell grandson of Samuel Anne - see above depositions.
