Date: 31 Sep 1832 HUFF, PETER, SR: He was born in Seyden Townsip, Huntington Co., NJ, "where I resided on the south branch of the rainston where I was called into service. In 1794 I removed to Mercer Co., Ky, where I now live. Entered service in the NJ militia in Jul 1776. "the flying service" or "minute men"..men held in readiness who could march on a minute's notice .. commanded by Capt Abraham Comingore. I know of no one but Daniel Coovert or Lt. Cornelious Vanarsdall by whom to prove this service. Affiant 1: Cornelius Vanarsdall Cornelius Vanarsdall: 31 Sep 1832..he states in the Mercer Co., Ky court. He was a Lieut. in the New Jersey Militia..well acquainted with Peter Huff..lived his neighbor in New Jersey. Affiant 2: Daniel Coovert Sr. Daniel Coovert, Sr.: Also had been a neighbor in NJ to Peter Huff, Sr concurs with Cornelious Vanarsdall as to his service.
