Date: 14 Mar 1833 HARRIS, SAMUEL: appeared in Mercer Co., Court..he being of the demonination called "Believers" or of the "Shaker Religion"..states he was born in Duchess Co., NY on the tract of land called River Pasture at an early age removed with his father to York Co., Penn then to Berkly Co., Va when about 7 years of age where I lived when called into service in the fall of 1780.. was taken prisioner of the British kept for three weeks released as a guard for some wounded officers who had been parolled..I have no proof of my age nor know of anyone, alive who could prove my service. I lived in Berkley Co., Va. during the revolution except in 1783 when I lived at my fathers in Washington Co., Penn. In 1784 I removed to Kentucky where I have since lived for the last 22 years have lived in Mercer Co., Ky.
