In 1777 I was an Indian Spy for Gen. George Rogers Clark. In Sept 1780 became a Lieut..guard Indian Spy..then made Capt. Affiant 1: Gritton, John, Sr. John Gritton Sr.: 7 Jul 1832..I have known General James Ray since I came to this country in April 1780..he was an Officer Spy for Gen. George Rogers Clark I served under him. He was in every campaign until peace which was after Gen. Wayne's battle in 1794 Affiant 2: Moore, Thomas, Sr. Thomas Moore Sr.: 7 Jul 1832..Have known General James Ray since 1780..he was a Spy against the Indians I have always heard it said he was one of the most active Spies Officers in the service of the Va. Militia. Affiant 3: Hutton, James, Sr. James Hutton Sr.: 17 Aug 1832, age 72..states he was an Ensign under then Capt. James Ray I came to Ky Mar 1780.. he had been a Spy for several years. He was always the first to be called when there was danger. Affiant 4: Wilson, Henry Henry Wilson: Of Montgomery Co., Ky..came to Ky in 1779 and Ray was then an active Spy, engaged in constant service at Harrodsburg. Affiant 5: Keller, Catherine Catherine Keller: Of Mercer Co., Ky, she is the daughter of Gen.
