James Byrd. He died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 25, 1938, in Clay County, he was the son of Elva Jones Abner of Harrodsburg and the late Malcomb Abner. He was a retired employee of Square D, where he worked for 42 years. Other survivors include his wife, Sara "Libby" Byrd Abner; a daughter, Jan Wiley of Harrodsburg; a brother, Alvie Abner of Lawrenceburg; and a grandson. Pallbearers will be Robert Bailey, Larry Cox, David Shewmaker, Daryl Catlett, James Dunn, Henry Grall, Shane Williams and Robert Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Fallis, Clearance Byrd, Elwood Byrd, Ronnie Byrd, Junior Sanders, Ralph Byrd and Clifford Grimes. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Thursday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
