Alexander received the sad news that his brother, Mr. Wm. H. Alexander had died in Lexington that morning. He had gotten up at 6 o'clock to build the fires and complained of a severe pain in his stomach and was unable to complete his task, as he died in less than half an hour there after. Mr. Alexander was a native of Mercer county, but had been living in Fayette county for fifteen years. He was a Confederate soldier, and a man who stood high in the estimation of all who knew him. He married Miss Lizzie Woods, a daughter of the late Harvey Woods, who, with two grown children, still survive him. Mr. E. Alexander, Mr. Joe Woods and Mrs. Merril Vanarsdall went to Lexington to attend the funeral. (Harrodsburg Hearald Thu Nov 8, 1906) Submitted by Kelly Courtney-Blizzard Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2005
