Davis, one of the best known and most devoted Christian characters in the community, died Saturday afternoon after a ten days illness of pneumonia. She was about seventy-two years of age, and was born and reared in this county and lived here all her life. For a number of years she has resided very quietly in Highland addition and she passed away at her home there. She was a woman of many superior qualities and was greatly beloved by all who knew her. She was a faithful and true member of the First Presbyterian church, and the funeral services were held there Sunday afternoon, and the remains interred at Spring Hill. A sad circumstance in regard to her death was that Mrs. Annie Sharp, a daughter, is dangerously ill at her home near Talmage, and could not see her mother. Two daughters, Mrs. Sharp and Mrs. Molle Bell and three sons, Mr. John T. Davis, of Vicksburg, who reached her bedside a few days before the end and Mr. Will Davis, of this county, survive her.
