From the Danville Advocate Messenger, 16 Dec 02 From the Danville Advocate Messenger, 24 Dec 2002 Services for Douglas Collier, 83, of 424 Logan Ave. will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home by the Rev. Floying Thompson Jr. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. He died Tuesday at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born June 5, 1919, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John and Ethel Murphy Collier. He was a carpenter and former owner of Collier's Carpets. He served as part of the Military Police for the Army in WWII and was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, David N. "Sonny" Collier of Danville; three daughters, Glenden Collier Edwards and Doris Collier Provence, both of Danville, and Betty Ann Claunch of Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Williams Collier. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home.
