Found Dead In Bed Saturday Morning of Heart Failure.
	The community was greatly shocked Saturday morning when the news 
spread that Mr. Joseph A. Ellis was found dead in bed that morning at the home 
of his daughter, Mrs. W. K. Cardwell. He was apparently in his usual health 
when he retired the night before but as he did not get up at breakfast, his 
little granddaughter, Sarah Cardwell, was sent to waken him. It was the usual 
thing for the little child to call him when he was late in the morning, and as 
he did not answer as was his habit, the family became alarmed, and went to his 
room. Life had apparently been extinct for several hours, and he was lying 
quietly as though he had passed away without a struggle while he slept. The 
funeral services were conducted from the residence Sunday afternoon, by Rev. 
Leonidas Robinson, of the Methodist church, after which the Masons gave him 
burial. He was a devoted member of that order. Mr. Ellis was a native of Ohio, 
but had lived in this community so long he seemed a part of it. He was an old 
soldier in the Federal army. Everyone liked him, and he was a friend to all. 
Many exquisite floral designs bore tokens of sympathy to the family. He was 69 
years of age, and besides a wife, leaves two daughters, Mrs. Marshall Boyce 
and Mrs. W. K. Cardwell, with whom he made his home. His brother, Mr. J. 
Ellis, of Cincinnati, Mrs. Herand, Mrs. Christain, his sister-in-law, of 
Cincinnati, were here to attend the funeral.
