His remains were brought to Talmage where they were taken from the train and interred in Providence cemetery by the side of his wife who preceded him to the grave ten years ago. Mr. McAfee was descended from five McAfee brothers who came to Kentucky in 1773 and made their homes in the wilderness and founded McAfee Settlement on Salt river. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Armstrong. To this union were born two daughters and three sons, Bessie, who married Rev. W. E. Mitchell, a Presbyterian missionary in China; Nell, who married Mr. Silas Evans and resides at Riton, Wisconsin; Horace, Madison, Wisconsin, Howard, New Orleans; and Gilbert, who resides in the South. Besides the above children he leaves a granddaughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Drake and a grandson, Harvey Evans, both of Wisconsin. Simple funeral services were conducted at the grave by Rev. G. B. Thompson, pastor of New Providence Presbyterian church of which the deceased had been a member from childhood. Mr. McAfee was a greatly beloved citizen of the McAfee neighborhood where he spent the greater part of his life as a farmer. (Fri Mar 26, 1937)
