He lived in the brick cottage back of the residence of Mr. J. F. Vanarsdall. Yesterday when Mr. Vanarsdall went to dinner the cook called his attention to the fact that the old man’s door had not been opened all day Tuesday. Mr. Vanarsdall looked into the window and saw him lying dead. He notified the authorities and Squire Cardwell, who held the inquest, found him lying near the foot of the bed with one shoe off and frozen stiff. It is thought he died Monday night. He was 86 years of age and was a former slave of the late Peter Dunn.
