Vanarsdall departed this life, Thursday morning, January 9, after an illness lasting nearly nine weeks. Mr. Vanarsdall was in the 86th. year of his age, and about two and a half months ago received a severe fall, breaking his hip. Since the time of his injury he had been suffering greatly, at intervals being confined to his bed, and his enfeebled state of health was such that he gradually grew worse, till the end came as above stated. The deceased was a most excellent citizen, and spent his life in this county, where he was born. For years he was one of Mercer’s well-to-do farmers, and he had the highest respect of all, who knew him. He leaves six children, besides other relatives, to mourn his death. Of the children, two are in Missouri, one in Louisville, another in Nelson county, and Mr. E. Vanarsdall, of McAfee, and Mrs. Lucy Davis, of this city. The funeral services were conducted yesterday at New Providence church, by the pastor, Rev. S. F. Taylor, and the remains interred in the cemetery at that place.
