DEED: Heirs of Samuel Garman to S. R. Garman, Metcalfe Co., Kentucky 1868 August 18 - Metcalfe Co., Ky. Deed Records, Book 1, pages 1-2: "This indenture made and entered into the 18th day of August 1868 between A. M. Garman Geo W. Garman Robt Garman Francis M Garman A. A. Garman Susan Garman Betty A Garrett W. R. Garritt Polly Garrett and James Garritt heirs of Samuel Garman deceased of the first part and S. R. Garman of the second part all of Metcalfe County & State of Kentucky. Witnesseth that whereas Samuel Garman in his life time sold to S. R. Garman a certain tract of land lying in Metcalfe County for and in consideration of four hundred dollars agreed to be paid but no title bond was executed and whereas Said Samuel Garman in his last will stated the conductions of the trade and directed that it be confirmed in case the consideration was paid and whereas the said S. R. Garman did after the death of Samuel Garman pay to his Executors the consideration of said tract of land and deed for the land was made to him & put to record and afterwards (to wit)about the 27th day of July 1868 said (sic) and the records thereof was destroyed by fire also said will and the record of the same were destroyed by fire at the same time now therefore in consideration of the premises we A. M. Garman Geo. W. Garman Robert Garman F M Garman A. A. Garman Susan Garman and Betty A Garrett. W. R. Garrett Polly Garrett J P Garrett parties of the first part being all of the heirs and divisors of the said Samuel Garman do hereby grant bargain & sell & convey to the said S. R. Garman said tract or parcel of land. bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at North East corner of Samuel Garman s 200 acre survey - at a Bush running thence N 25 W 90 poles. to two Spanish Oakes Garretts corner thence with his various lines as follows. S 65 W. 78 poles. to a Mulberry Thence S 44 E 61/4 poles to three cherries Then S 68 W 24 poles to a Stake on the South bank of the creek. Thence. down the creek and with its meanders N 65 W 40 poles to two Cherries a Hickory and Mulberry - Thence S 25 W 38 poles to a Hickory and Spanish Oak on the west bank - of Bear Branch Thence up said branch and with its meanders - to where Morans South or upper line crosses. Said branch Thence- with said line S 35 E to a poplar Thence N 65 E 179 poles to the beginning containing 150 acres more or less and lying on the waters of the East Fork of Little Barren River to have and to hold unto the said S. R. Garman and his heirs & assigns forever and we warrant and defend the title to said land against the claims of all persons whatsoever." Signed by A. M. Garman W. R.
