Hodges of Monroe County Kentucky of the second part Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars of which is cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged fifty dollars of which is hereby secured to be paid Jan 1st 1871 The parties of the first part have this day granted bargained sold and conveyed unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Metcalfe State of Kentucky on the waters of Skaggs Creek Containing Seventy eight & 1/4 acres by survey be it the same more or less and bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at a Stake in a line of a survey made in the name of the trustees of Newport Academy and corner to Thomas Bartley thence with Bartleys line South 10 East! 20 poles to a stake corner to Hodges thence with the line of same South 84 East 126 poles to a dogwood white oak and Hickory corner to same thence North 33 West 75 poles to a Poplar in the aforesaid Seminary line thence with the same South 73 West 95 poles to the beginning To have and to hold the same with all appurtenances as thereunto belonging unto the said grantee his heirs and assigns forever warrant and defend the title of the property hereby conveyed to be free of the claim or claims of any and all persons whatsoever.
