Riley KERR's trial for the death of Lester HEAD set for Wed, 10 Aug. Barbeque scheduled at the T'vill Colored church Sat 6 Aug. Bro. G W CRAIG invites everyone to attend. Miss Opal GRAY of T'ville and Henry L COMBS of Glasgow were married last Saturday in Bowling Green with Rev. Edward Phay DOWNEY of the Presbyterian Church officiating. The couple were accompanied by the bride's sister, Mrs. A B STICKLER of T'ville. Mrs. COMBS is the d/o of T J GRAY, decd. Groom is s/o Horace COMBS of Baren Co. Groom employed by the State Highway Dept in Monroe Co; they will make their home in Monroe Co. Last Saturday, wedding of Miss Ada DECKARD and Rad FLIPPIN took place, performed by Bro. J A JONES of near Gamaliel. Bride is d/o Cass DECKARD of Gamaliel; groom is s/o of Judge M T FLIPIN, for years Monroe County Judge and one of the greatest orators Monroe ever produced. Mr. FLIPPIN in also a brother of Senator Walter FLIPPIN of Somerset. He is a barber, working in W E WALDEN's shop in T'ville. They will reside in T'ville. Road Commissioner honored - T S RHEA - at a barbecue and fish-fry at Dr. G W BUSHONG's farm. "a man who has done more for Monroe county, than any other living man." Mr. RHEA presented L C (Uncle Cass} ROSS a commission naming him a colonel on Gov. LAFFOON's staff. ROSS is a popular Democrat of the Meshack vicinity. Postmaster Hebron LAWRENCE made the address. Judge B F DENHAM and Dr. J A WHITE expressed appreciation. Committee setting this program up included: R H McCREARY, S T HAGAN, J N GILLENWATER and Judge J C CARTER. Thos attending included Pete REED (district engineer), J C JOLLY (assistant district engineer), Austin CLAYPOOL (maintenance supervisor), R T MARKLE (surveyor), Jas S HILL (resident engineer of Allen Co),Otis BECK (Cumberland Co maintenance man), Ex-Representtive T M JOHNSON of Warren Co; Buford WOODS (maintenance supervisor of Barren Co), F M LEWIS (resident engineer Monroe Co). Others, not connected with the above included: Bob RUSH of Beaumont, B E HAMMER of Glsgow, Mr and Mrs W L MAYER of NC, E E REYNOLDS of Bowling Green and W R DAVIS of Burkesville. Another program honoring the above held at Hestand. Barlow BAXTER & W B STEPHENS exeucted the party. Expressed gratitude for the Boles Road. Toastmaster was Dr J A WHITE. Same basic speakers as the above program. Lawton LANE's Eagles from Fountain Run defeated MORGAN's men from Marrowbone July 31, 12 to 2. Then the Eagles met the Tompkinsville Outlaws and faced Lefty POLAND who allowed only 2 hits and struck out 13 of the 38 men he faced. Glasgow DAR unveiled markers to honor old Mulkey Soldier - graves of James CHISM and Nathan BREED (Rev.soldiers), and Hannah BOONE, sister of Daniel BOONE. Done by the Edmund Rogers chapter of the DAR; Mrs. Charles F TERRY, Regent of Glasgow chapter in charge. Nathan BREED was once owner of BREED's Hill or Bunker Hill whre the famous Rev battle was fought; he served in the west with John SEVIER. He and Breed lived near Old Mulkey. T K CHISM of T'ville is a great-grandson of both. James CHISM married a niece of Nathan Breed's; and his three sons married daughters of N BREED. Makers will be erected later for Tolbert THOMAS, grandather of Rev. W E THOMAS and Thomas's two wives, for Jesse HOWARD and wife Lucy MAYFIELD HOWARD, Elizabeth BREED THOMAS and William Howard THOMAS. Prohibition Investigator I L WILIAMS visiting in T'ville a few days; had been summoned to testify in the trial of Hugh PARDUE for the murder of Bob POINDEXTER. He was accompanied by his chief, Deputy Prohibition Adm of Western TN and wife, Mr and Mrs. E A LARKIN. Notes on the Old Mulkey celebration; those who will be taking part include Tom RHEA, James H RICHMOND (State Sup. Public Instruction), Emma Guy CROMWELL (Sec of the State Park Commision), U S Senator M M LOGAN, Ab RHEA, Max HARLAN, Dr G W BUSHONG. Mrs. C M McGEE of Burkesville in charge of singing.
