Mrs Malissa LEMON of Beaumont is visiting relatives here. Mr Thomas CHAPPELL and daughter, of Blythe were visiting here Monday. Clay HARLAN of Gamaliel was looking after business here Monday. Mrs J A WHITE is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs G W STEPHENS of Vernon this week. Jesse GRIMSLEY, the popular candidate for the Reublican nonimation for Jailer was here Monday. H P SMITH who formerly worked here in the tobacco business returned to this place Tuesday and will resume his business. Mrs Lewis JONES of Glasgow joined her husband here Monday; they will reside here while Mr JONES is recting some business houses. Thomas GILLENWATERS of the Hickory Grove section was in town Monday purchasing a few supplies for his farm. He is well pleased with the arrival of a fine girl baby at his home. Thomas EMBERTON of new Poplar Log has been suffering for several days from blood poison which set up from a small wnd on his hand. He had a couple of fingers taken off at the hospital here and is resting some better. Harmon HAYS, candidate for the Democratic nomination for Representative in the Metcalfe-Monroe district was in town last Thursday. Johnnie P JENKINS who has been in the US Army for the past four years is visitng his old home and friends in the county. Cam McPHERSON received over 500 hogs here last Friday. The Federal soldiers of this county will hold memorial services at the soldier's cemetery here May 30. The Titanic will be shown at the courthouse tomorrow night by J H FAIR - a wonderful reproduction of this awful ocean disaster, well worth the small admittance to see it. Misses Ruby and Pearl RUSH gave a lawn party Monday evening at their beautiful home on Columbia Ave in honor of Misses Mattie LYTTON and Lora YOUNG of Gainsboro TN. Games were played and those receiving prizes were Jimmy YORK and Ruby RUSH and Lovel RUSH and Ada BROWN. Those present were: Mattie LYTTON, Lora YOUNG, Ruby and Pearl RUSH, Mayme and Bessie ARTERBERRY, Daisy NEWMAN, Hettie MARRS, Ollie, Kate and Ada BROWN, Cora DODSON, Flora WILBORN, Clara CONKIN, Messrs: Price KIRKPATRICK, Dr W T WILLIAMS, Tim, Herman and Harlan ARTERBERRY, Lovel RUSH, Clayton, Jimmy and Jesse YORK, Barlow BRYANT, Finley JORDAN and Luther CONDRA. Memorial services will be held at the BAILY Cemetery near Hestand 30 May. Elder John ARMS of Celina and Elder S H STRODE of near this place will deliver a sermon. Dinner will be served on the ground.
