William Paul Smith, 85, of San Diego died Monday. He was born in Tompkinsville, Ky.

Mr. Smith had retired after working as a builder and serving in the Navy, and was a

veteran of World War II. He volunteered as a clown for the Al Bahr Shrine, and 
belonged to Chula Vista Masonic Lodge 626. Survivors include his wife, Raye Lutkin 
Smith; daughter, Janice Raye Smith-Calabrese of San Diego; son Steven Paul Smith of

San Diego; brother James Earl Smith; and two grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. 
Saturday, Pacific Beach Christian Church, 1074 Loring St. San diego. Inurnment: 1 
p.m. Tuesday, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery,
Point Loma.
Donations: San Diego Hospice.
Arrangements: Community Mortuary.
