Greene Cemetery #1 5043 Donaldson Road Elwood Kline Farm (2004) Mt. Sterling, KY Transcribed by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Greene and Wesley D. Jones September 20, 2004 Recorder Mr.and Mrs. Lewis Greene (Lewis and Kitty),641 Maysville Road, Mt. Sterling 40353 Beel Greene 8-13-1763 4-30-1837 Inscription: In Memory of Beel Greene who died April 30, 1837 Aged 73 yr 8 mo 18 days Dr. R.D. Greene 2-7-1791 11-13-1857 Elizabeth J. Wright 1-11-1804 4-15-1879 Inscription: Wife of Dr. R.D. Greene Note: It is known from records written perhaps in the 1940's by Mrs. Russell Greene, who then lived on Grassy Lick Road, that also buried in this cemetery is the wife of Beel Greene, Francis Dulin Greene, who was born 3-11-1771 and died 7-17-1855. At the time that Mrs. Russell Greene surveyed the cemetery, Francis' marker was broken and barely readable. Francis' and Beel's markers were of the old flat type and Dr. R.D. and Elizabeth's markers were upright; at that time all except Francis' marker were apparently in good condition. In September, 2004 Beel's flat marker had been overturned off the rectangular base, none of Francis' marker could be located, and the two upright markers had been knocked over off their bases to a horizontal position. The cemetery is located at Lat./Long. coordinates 38 deg. 05.32 min. north, 84 deg. 02.19 min. west (WGS84 datum). It can be located by turning in at the farmhouse at 5043 Donaldson Road, passing the house, and proceeding northward beside the right side of the barn and straight back on to the rear of the property, taking the high land, until a swale is found, passing through the gate in the fence that runs in the swale, and then proceeding to the crest of the next hill, where the cemetery is located. The distance back from the house is almost exactly 1/3 mile. In 2004 there was a sizable walnut tree in the center of the cemetery, and the graves were in the brush around the base of the tree. The tree, however, was in poor condition and may not last many more years.
