War Genealogical Abstracts Of Revolutionary War Pension Files Volume II: F – N Abstracted by Virgil D. White The National Historical Publishing Company Waynesboro, Tennessee 1990 Introduction These genealogical abstracts were obtained from the National Archives microfilm publication, “ Selected Records from the Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files “, series M805. This series contains most of the genealogical data contained in the Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files. In series M805 a large percentage of the series will contain ten or fewer pages and from the larger files only records of significant genealogical value were microfilmed. Some of the entries were supplemented with additional data which was obtained from the National Archives microfilm series M804 which contains microcopies of the entire file on each claimant who filed for pension or bounty land based on service in the Revolutionary War. Included in these abstracts are cross- references to the Virginia Half Pay Claims . There are also references to other state pensions or bounty land awarded for service in the Revolutionary war which may give the amount of pension paid and the date pension was commenced and the state bounty land reference may show the number of acres awarded as well as the number of the state warrant. The information available for the disability pensions granted prior to 1814 and the bounty land applications prior to 1818 is rather limited due to the fire in the War Office in 1800 anf when the British burned Washington, D.C. in 1814. These entries may contain veteran`s service data, when and how he was disabled, where he lived, amount of pension and data of commencement, date of death or final pay voucher and various other data. If you wish to review the microfilm from which these abstracts were taken, consult Microfilm Publication M805 for which there are 898 rolls and may be ordered from the National Archives, Publication Sales Branch ( NEPS ), Washington,D.C. 20408 Reproductions of specific pension records corresponding to entries in these abstracts may be obtained from the National Archives for a fee. Copies of the pension records may be obtained by mail using NATF form 80, which may be ordered from the Reference Servies Branch ( NNIR ), General services Administration, Washington, D.C. 20408.
