Hollon, 76, of West Elkton, died Saturday, May 16,1998 at his home. Born Sept. 13, 1921, in Morgan County, Ky., he was the son of Walter and Manda (Morrison) Hollon. He was a resident of Gratis Township most of his life, with the exception of the years he served with the U.S. Army. A veteran of World War II, her served from Aug. 18, 1942, to Dec. 24, 1945, in the Pacific Theatre Operation -- China, Burma and India. A decorated veteran, he received the Purple Heart, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He retired from Armco in July 1974 after 29 years. Survivors include his wife, Lois (Francis) Hollon, whom he married Sept. 16, 1948; two sons, David Hollon of Middletown, James Lawson and wife Jo of Menifee County, Ky.; three daughters, Kathleen Hollon of Middletown, Nancy Conniff and husband James of Trenton, Donna Moriarty and husband Michael of New York City, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Lt. James Conniff, Kyle Conniff, Sarah Lynn Hollon and Teagan Rose Moriarty; and a half sister, Norma Jean of Middletown. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Dennis Hollon. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, May 20, at R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, 249 N. Main St., Camden. Graveside services will follow at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, with the Rev. Rueben Cabanillas officiating.
