McCUTCHENVILLE -- Funeral services for Abner C. May, 79, of 8904 High St., McCutchenville, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Freewill Baptist Church, Carey, the Rev. Brent Layne officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at Stombaugh Memorial Funeral Home, Carey, where a Masonic service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Mr. May died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at his residence. He was born March 21, 1919, in Morgan County, Ky., to Reuben W. and Nannie (Dykes) May. He married Ruby Anita Caudill on June 21, 1940, in Newport, Ky., and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Wanda) McDermott, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Donald (Peggy) Secoy, Upper Sandusky; four sons, Leonard of Upper Sandusky, Darrell of Bucyrus, Larry of Sycamore, Carlos of Upland, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Phipps, Hazel Green, Ky. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold; a grandson; five sisters, Mary E., Dolan, Francis, Nola and Alta; and four brothers, Elza, Hager, Ernest and Elmer. Mr. May retired in 1981 after working 31 years as a machinist for Union Carbide, Fostoria. He also served three years in the Civil Conservation Corps. He was a 46-year member of Pieratt Masonic Lodge 725, Lee City, Ky. Memorials may be made to the Wyandot County Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice
