Sandi From KYBIOGRAPHIES #8178: Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 2nd ed., 1885, Muhlenberg Co. Thomas H. Martin, brother of the above [see H. N. Martin biography], was born February 11, 1839, and is the youngest child. He received a common school education, and attended Greenville College one year. He enlisted in October, 1861, in Company D, Third Kentucky Cavalry (Federal); was in the battles of Shiloh, Sacramento, Ky., siege of Atlanta, siege of Corinth, Stone River, Waynesboro, Atworth, Ga.; was wounded in the last fight; was discharged December 26, 1864, as orderly sergeant. He returned to his home and engaged in farming until 1872, when he engaged in the manufacture of tobacco with his brother. He was married July 26, 1865, to Matilda T. Dennis, of Muhlenburgh County, and a daughter of James M. and Mary Leachman) Dennis, natives of Muhlenburgh and McLean Counties, Ky., respectively, and of Irish descent. To this union were born three children: Guy O., Lizzie Florence (deceased), and Edgar D. Mr. and Mrs. Martin are members of the Presbyterian and Methodist Episcopal Churches, respectively.
