I the said John Gilbert have given and granted and by these presents freely give and grant unto Philip Alston Jr. thirteen Negroes named and aged as followeth. Will, about forty five years of age. Biner (Bener?) about thirty years of age. Poll, about thirteen years of age. Jacob, about ten years of age. Nancy, about five years of age. Penpy, about three years of age. William, about one year of age. Jacob, about fifty years of age. Juner(?), forty five years of age. Sarah, about twenty five years of age. Nancy, about twenty years of age. Sam, about thirteen years of age. Rose, about three years of age. Said Philip Alston, Jr. being in the State of Kentucky and County of Muhlenberg which property I the said John Gilbert before the signing of these presents have delivered him the said Philip Alston. To have and to hold all the above named Negroes to him the said Philip Alston Jun., his Heirs, Executors or Administrators from hence forth as his and their real property and from me an Heirs, Executors and Administrators forever absolutely without any manner of condition. October 22, 1799 I Charles Wing Clerk of the quartersession for Court of Said County being duly authorized by Law to Receive aduit and record Deeds and other writings in my office do certify that the within Deed of Gift between John Gilbert of the one part and Philip Alston Jun. of the other part was produced to me on the 22nd day of October 1799 and proved to be the Act & deed of John Gilbert a party thereto by the oath of John Alston and Philip Alston Sen., Witnesses thereto and the same is truly Recorded.
