Submitted by: Mary Becker mkbeck01@louisville.edu Date: June 10, 2001 **************************************************************************** Gean Simmons, 35 Listed as Killed on German Front Telegram Received by Wife Friday of Husbands Death on March 12 Gean Simmons, 35, was killed in action in Germany on March 12 (1945), according to information received from the War Department by his wife, who resides in Central City. Simmons, who was employed at the Black Diamond Mind in Drakesboro previous to induction, had been in the Army almost a year, being inducted March 22, 1944. He is a former resident of the Nebo community, Central City, Route 1. He arrived in France in January. Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Betty, Wanda and Billy Ray Simmons.
