I John Plain of Muhlenberg County and State of Kentucky this 16th day of March one thousand eight hundred and twenty four. Being in a low state of health but of perfect Mind and Memory. Calling to mind the mortality of the body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament. Principally and first of all I give my Soul into the hands of God that gave all, and as for my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner, at the discretion of my Executors. Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I Shall receive the same again by the Mighty power of God that gave all. And as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise & dispose of in the Manner following. To wit: It is my request and desire that all Just debts against me be fully paid and Satisfied by my executors which shall be herein named. It is my Will and desire that the amount of property that I obtained by My wife Margaret be divided between My Children according to law (Which amount is recorded in the Clerks office in Greenville). I will and bequeath to My Wife Margaret during her natural life, a third part of the **** on the tract of land whereon I now live to be laid off by my Executors So as to include the dwelling house, yard and garden and one thing part of the orchard together with wood and timber for the benefit of the same. Also my cupboard chest and a table, a bed, bedstead and furnature, and for her support for the present year. I leave her one fourth of the present growing crop of **** , fifty bushels of corn, and three hundred weight of beans. Also two cows and two Sows and pigs. I bequeath to my Daughter, Polly Plain, Catherin Plain and my Step Daughter Lavinna(?) Off** each a bed, bedstead and furnature and each of them a Cow and calf. Whereas I have given to my son David Plain and also to my Son John Plain the amount of three hundred and fifty dollars Each. I desire the rest of my children; Daniel Plain, Jesse Plain, Polly Plain & Catherine Plain to receive amount in the Manner following. I wish My two sons Daniel & Jesse Plain to inherit my two tracts of land. The one whereon I now live and the one which I purchasedCharles Little(?). I wish them to be divided by Lotts and which falls heir to the farm I now live on becomes debtor to my estate four hundred and fifty dollars in commonwealth paper or currency equal to the **** and the one that inherits the other receives it at two hundred dollars and receives from my Estate in proportion to the rest of the Heirs. I wish it to be understood that I have given to my two sons Daniel & Jesse a horse beast each, Which I estimate at fifty dollars each. And I have bequeath to my two daughters Polly & Catherin each of them a bed and bedstead and furniture each, a Cow and calf. Which I wish them to be charged with in the settlement of my Estate. And my two daughters above Mentioned to receive their portion in Money (the Currency above mentioned) and the ballance of My estate if any to be equally divided amongst my six children; David, John, Daniel, Jesse, Polly & Catherine. As also the property left to my wife after her death. Except fifty dollars Which I give and bequeath to my Step Son Jacob Coffman. And lastly I do nominate and appoint my friends James ****** and William Hincheloe Executors to this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and disannuling any other former will or Wils by me in any wise made.
