Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for profit or any form of presentation, must obtain the written consent of the file submitter, or his legal representative and then contact the listed USGENWEB archivist with proof of this consent. ***************************************** Nelson County Deed Book #9, page 330-331 To all to whom these presents shall come I James NICHOLS and Sarah NICHOLS his wife of Nelson County and state of Kentucky for and in consideration of the love goodwill and affection which we have and bear toward our loving son Henry NICHOLS of Nelson County and state aforesaid have given and granted and by these presents do freely give and grant unto the said Henry NICHOLS his heirs executors and adm one Negro woman named Lydda and her increase, one Negro woman named Knacka and her daughter Rhoda and both of their increase, one Negro woman named Rebecca and her increase. One Negro boy named Loftes, one Negro girl named Leah and her increase, one Negro boy named Bassil, one Negro girl named Harriet and her increase and forth five acres of land being part of the said tract of land that the said James NICHOLS now lives on and that he purchased of William CASEBEAR, and all my stock and household furniture and plantation utensils; be it understood that the said Henry NICHOLS is not to have the above Negroes and property in his possession until the death of the said James NICHOLS and Sarah NICHOLS his wife and said Henry NICHOLS is to take care and support us both decently as long as we both live, and if said Sarah NICHOLS should be the longest live she is to keep the above Negroes in her possession until her death for her support to live them out or do as her own wisdom thins proper. And if said Henry NICHOLS should decease having no lawful heir from his body before said James NICHOLS and Sarah his wife the above Negroes and property I give to my son James NICHOLS and his heirs at both our deaths to have and to hold the above aforesaid Negroes and property to said Henry NICHOLS his heirs executors and adm forever. In witness whereof we have here unto set our hands and affixed our seals in the year one thousand eight hundred and eleven. Signed James NICHOLS Sarah (her mark X) NICHOLS Signed sealed and delivered in presents of us: William HUGHS, John ALLBRIGHT I certify that on the 5th day of October 1811 the above deed from James NICHOLS and Sarah his wife to Henry NICHOLS was acknowledged before me by the said James and his act and deed and proved to be the act and deed of the said Sarah by the oaths of William HUGHES and John ALLBRIGHT the subscribing witness there to and I have recorded the same as required by law.
