Colonel Susie Ann FLORENCE, 68, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Boston, Ky., died on 
Saturday, June 5, 1999, at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. She grew up in 
Boston and was a graduate of Old Kentucky Home High School in Nelson County and the Baptist 
Hospital School of Nursing in Louisville.

She was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps in 1956 and 
medically retired in 1980. She held a BSN from the University of Pennsylvania, a MA in 
management from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo., and was a graduate of the Air Force 
Flight Nurse course and the National Security Management Course. She received many honors 
for her work in the military.  She was active in her church and in  the Society of Retired 
Air Force Nurses. 

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald and Ernest Jr.

She is survvied (sic) by one brother Donald FLORENCE; one sister, Eloise FLORENCE; three 
nephews; a niece; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12 at Bardstown Baptist Church in 
Bardstown with the Rev. Warner Smith and the Rev. Kit Yeaste officiating. Burial will be in 
Bardstown City Cemetery.
