OBIT: John D. Gordon, d. 1998, Nelson/Jefferson Co., KY

   John D. Gordon, 73, of Middletown died Tuesday, Nov 24, 1998, at the Hospice of 
Louisville In-Patient Unit in Louisville. 
    He was a native of Nelson County, the son of the late Robert D. and Bessie Lee 
Mattingly Gordon, a self-employed painter, a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church, 
and Post 1170, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Middletown.
    Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Gordon, two sons, Bobby Gordon of Clarks-
ville, Ind., and John D. Gordon Jr. of Pewee Valley; three daughters, Betty G. Brown 
of Bardstown, Carol Stamler of Prospect, Shirley A. King of Louisville; 11 grandchildren, 
11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Gordon of Birmingham, Ala., and Evertt 
Gordon of Jeffersonville, Ind., and a sister, Margie Stephens of Bloomfield.
    Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 27, 1998, at 11 a.m., at the Hall-Taylor 
Funeral Home in Shelbyville.  Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. 
Visitation will be today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial donations 
may be made to the Hospice of Louisville. Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville 
is in charge of the arrangements.
