For thirty years prvious to his death he had lived the life of an exemplary Christian, and when the great change came he was fully prepared for it. Being a man of a nuturally reserved disposition, he chose a quiet retreat for his home and and a retired place in society for his station. He was a man of too much modesty ever to make a boast, and of too much wisdom and courage in designing and executing his plans to make many failures. He was so well rounded and developed intellectually, morally and physically taht his life, both as a citizen and Christian, was tranquil and useful. He was direct in his purpose, sincere in his statements, transparent in his conduct, brief in his speech; often saying as much in a sentence as others would in a sermon, leaving to his grandsons a legacy of wisdom in the (sic) direction "to be good boys, make men of themselves and die like Christians". He was faithful as a husband, affectionate as a father, loyal as a citizen and truthful as a Christian. The last chapters of Revelation describes the beautiful home which he repeatedly declared himself to be rady to enter at any time. His place in the community will not be easily filled and we who follow after him may freely imitate his example without fear of being led astray. FUNERAL NOTICE.
