Philip Davis to Elizabeth Herron

Know all men by these presents that we Philip Davis and Joseph Hobbs are
held and firmly bound unto his Excellancy James Garrard Esquire Governor
of Kentucky in the penal sum of fifty pounds current money to be paid to 
his Excellancy aforesd and his Successors the which payment well and truly
to be made we bind ourselves and heirs Exors and Admrs jointly and
severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this
8th day of May 1797.  
  The conditions of the above obligation is such that
if there should be no legal cause to obstruct a marriage shortly intended
to be Solemnized between the above bound Philip Davis and Elizabeth Herron
both above the age of twenty one years.  
  Then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force.               Philip  X  Davis
