Will Book F p. 36 In the name of God Amen I CATHERINE MILLER of the County of Nelson and State of Kentucky being of sound mind and perfect memory But of imperfect health thanks be given to God calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed to all both men and women once to die I do make and ordain this my last will and Testament my Soul I recommend into the hand of Almighty God who gave it and body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial and as touching such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in following manner form to wit. Item the 1. I give and bequeth unto SARAH HAMILTON my flax heckle one half of the web to be wove also the other half I give to POLLY CROW her sister. Item the 2. I give bequeth unto NANCY PALMER two new Sheets and one flat Iron six yards of toe Linning. Item the 3. I give and bequeth unto CATHERINE FIG my little Citte / Citle also red Cow also six pounds of carded wool. Item the 4. Will Book 1 p. 225 I SAMUEL MILLER of Nelson County and Commonwealth of Kentucky in the name of God Amen In my 73rd year of age being weak in body but of Sound mind do Make and Publish this my last will and Testament. First I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth and as for what worldly goods it hath pleased the Lord to bless me with I dispose of the same in the following manner To wit: First it is my will and order that all my just debts be paid. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife ELIZABETH MILLER during her natural life one third of my home farm to include the mansion house & Beginning on the river corner with A. CHAMBERS thence up the river to a double Buckeye cornering with D. VITTITOW thence with s’d VITTITOWS line to an Elm and Walnut thence with SAM (or JANE?) VITTITOWS line to a maple and small black oak a corner between my self and s’d FIGG thence to a large black oak a corner of said line with FIGG thence to white oak Corner on a small ridge corner to FIGG thence to the branch where the big road crosses thence along the big road to crook (?) over the ridge to HA---YMANS line thence to a corner under the Knob thence to an Elm a corner to the 200 acre survey thence a long my line to the Beginning to include all the land that belongs to me on this side of the main road leading to the Beach fork. Also I give and bequeath to my wife ELIZABETH MILLER and my two youngest daughters FINETTA MILLER and SUSANNAH MILLER all of my house hold and kitchen furniture including cupboard ware bed clothing, two side saddles and bridles, loom etc. Also I bequeath to my wife ELIZABETH MILLER during her natural life and at her death to go to my two youngest daughters FINETTA and SUSANNAH MILLER my negroe man AARON a slave , my man PHILL, 2 cary ploughs, 2 pr. of geer with singletree and double tree and clev---, 2 axes, 2 hoes & grubbing hoe ---- of provisions and grain etc. for the use of the family & stock for one year. Also I further give absolutely unto my wife my negro woman HAGAR to sell or to keep as she may prefer. Also I give unto my wife for the benefit of my two youngest daughters FINETTA and SUSANNAH MILLER $350 of debt due from BENJAMIN C. SIMPSON of Shelby County. I give unto my daughter FINETTA MILLER my young woman PHEBE and to my daughter SUSANNAH MILLER it is my will and order that --- (a gear?) & side saddle and bridle be purchased for her. I give and bequeath unto my daughter PEGGY VITTITOW two hundred dollars in cash to be paid 1st after the debts. I give and bequeath unto my daughter LOUISA CHAMBERS my negro girl CHARITY and fifty dollars in cash. I give and bequeath unto my daughters SALLY ROLLINS, SALLY CUNNINGHAM and NANCY MILLER and ELIZABETH VITTITOE six shillings each in cash. All the personal estate not mentioned in this will is to be sold to the highest bidder at 12 months credit. The house and land I purchased of J. VITTITOW I give and bequeath unto my son SAMUEL MILLER nevertheless with this condition that it is hereby invested in DAN’L VITTITOW as trustee for the use and benefit of s’d SAMUEL MILLER by letting s’d SAMUEL Occupy s’d farm or by renting it and paying over to said SAM’L the proceeds thereof. I give and bequeath unto my son NICHOLAS MILLER my horse Charley and two thirds of the home farm and the remaining one third at my wife’s death On condition that the s’d NICHOLAS will pay five hundred dollars twelve months after the death of my wife to all of my grandchildren which I have is to be equally divided amongst each and all of s’d grand children including my two youngest daughters FINETTA and SUSANNAH MILLER nevertheless should there not be sufficient collected from the outstanding debts and from the late S---- property to pay the just debts due by me and to pay PEGGY VITTITOW two hundred and LOUISIANA CHAMBERS fifty dollars then and in that case s’d NICHOLAS MILLER is to have a credit out of the $500 that is requested to pay 12 months after the death of my wife but should there be and over--- to pay the above claims from the collection of debt and dates of property then it is to be divided between the grand children and the two youngest daughters further it is my will that all my out lands shall be sold for the proceeds but when sold the proceeds is to be divided between my two youngest daughters and grand children equally. I appoint JOHN MILLER and JOHN CHAMBERS executors of this my last will and Testament. In Testimony wherof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 15th day of October 1833. Will Book 1 p. 373 In the name of God Amen I THOMAS MONTGOMERY of the County of Nelson being Low in health but Sound in Mind and memory but calling to mind that we are all mortal do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say Principally and first of all I recommend my Soul to ----- the hand of almighty god that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth from whence it came and as to touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following form. Viz. And First I give and bequeath unto my son WILLIAM MONTGOMERY Twelve hundred dollars one six hundred due from my son JOHN and one six hundred from my son THOMAS to be paid one year after my death and I gave to my son JOHN one hundred dollars and I gave to my daughter REBECAH DACON two hundred dollars and I gave to my daughter POLLY STALERD (?) two hundred dollars and I gave to my daughter LINET MILLER two hundred dollars and gave to my daughter NANCY MILLER two hundred dollars and I gave to daughter ELIZABETH FOREMAN two hundred dollars and I gave to my daughter LETTICE two hundred dollars to be counted out of a note I have on her Husband for three hundred dollars and I gave to my daughter ANN two hundred dollars and I gave to my daughter NANCY JEAN MOORE four hundred dollars and I gave to my son THOMAS two horses, Some ---- and one Negro boy called HENRY and my wagon and my desk and I gave to my grandson THOMAS, son to JOHN MONTGOMERY one negro child named HEARRIET and I leave the rest of my negroes to be sold but not to go down the river and there proceeds and the sale of my other property to be divided equally and I gave to my son THOMAS the half of the crop that will be in the ground and the use of the negro slaves till it is gathered and it is to be understood that NANCY MOORE and my grandson THOMAS MONTGOMERY is not to come in for a share of the sale secondly (?) and I do hereby ordain and appoint my Sons JOHN and THOMAS MONTGOMERY my executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly revoke and disanull all and every other bequests and executors by me in any wise mentioned willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament.
