This family cemetery is the resting place of my 3rd great grandparents, Lottimore & Mary (Bryan) Hayden. Lott Hayden is a direct descendant of Mayflower pilgrims John & Priscilla Alden. Mary Bryan was the first white child born in Bryan Station in 1779. The following graves are found there: Lott Hayden 1764-1827 Mary Bryan Hayden 1779-1852 May Hayden 1794-1815 daughter of Lott Hayden by first wife Robert Cochran Young 1803-1869 husband of Mary Hayden Mary Hayden Young 1808-1867 5th daughter of Lott & Mary Hayden Children of: Lot D. Young & Belle (Davis) Young son of Robert & Mary Young Willie Young 1869-1872 Mary E. Young 1878-1881 Camie Young 1872-1882 Infant daughter of: William P. & Sarah F. Young May 26, 1851 son of Robert & Mary Young The above information was taken from the "History of Nicholas County" first published in 1976 by the Nicholas County Historical Society. I visited the cemetery in August of this year & found the site to be in extremely poor condition & overgrown with trees & shrubs. The headstones were barely legible & some had fallen over or at were an angle. The surrounding rock wall had fallen down in some places. I am looking for suggestions on how I might go about having the cemetery cleaned-up, headstones re-inscribed & the site generally restored. I would be interested in paying someone to have this accomplished.
