YOUNG DEED: Philip BELLIS to Robert C. YOUNG 18 July 1845 (3 tracts of land on Somerset Creek: 2 acres w/mill house; 1 ½ acre & thirty poles; 20 acres.) Nicholas County Court Record Book N, pages 211-213. This Indenture made and entered on the 18th day of July 1845, Between Philip Bellis & Mary Bellis his wife of Platte County & state of Missouri of the one part and Robert C. Young of Nicholas County and state of Kentucky of the other part, Witnesseth: That the said Philip Bellis & wife for and in consideration of the sum of Seventeen hundred Dollars a part to them heretofore paid and a part to be paid hereafter, the receipt of said payment and the notes of said Young for the part unpaid, are hereby acknowledged. Have granted bargained & sold and do hereby convey and confirm unto the said Robert C. Young his heirs and assigns forever, three small tracts or parcels of land lying in said County of Nicholas, on Somerset Creek and the first of which contains Two acres, more or less and is bounded as follows, towit: Beginning at the Mill House on said tract, thence running down the creek about 10 poles to an Elm, thence East about 10 poles to a Hickory. Thence about North 20 poles to a sugartree (sic) on the bank of the creek, above the Mill, thence across the creek to the abutmen (sic) on the opposite side from the Mill, thence to the beginning. The second tract or parcel contains one acre, one half and 30 poles, and is bounded as follows, Beginning at a stone and apple tree a corner of said Bellis joining the Mill yard, thence East 20 poles to a stake & apple tree, near a drain; thence North 20 poles to a stake, thence west 7 poles to a sugartree stump or stake thence South 20 poles to the beginning. And the third tract or parcel contains Twenty acres more or less, and is bounded as follows, Beginning at a Buckeye corner in the division of the land of Uriah Wilson decd. Thence N48W58 poles to a stake corner to A. Branch (Branchs?) thence with Mrs. Thomas’ line S 44 W.41 ½ poles to a stone in the creek, thence S 48 E, 95 poles to a sycamore in Swearingens line, then with it N 1° W. 55 poles to the beginning. Together with all and singular the premises, improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or anywise appertaining. To have and to hold said three parcels of land and appurtenances unto the said Robert C. Young his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Philip Bellis & wife, for themselves their heirs executors and administrators, the said land and appurtenances unto the said Robert C. Young his heir or assigns, against the claims or demand of themselves, their heirs, and all other persons whomsoever, claiming or to claim by through or under them, do and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. But will not warrant, or defend against any other person or persons, claims or demands whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Philip Bellis & Mary Bellis his wife have here unto set their hand and seals, the day and date first above written. Barnett a Judge of the County Court of the County of aforesaid, do certify that this Deed from Philip Bellis and Mary Bellis his wife to Robert C. Young was on this day produced before me by the said grantors and acknowledged by them to be their act and deed. And the said Mary Bellis, being examined by me privily and a part from her said husband, declared that she did of her own free will seal and deliver said Deed; and consents that it may be recorded. Given under my hand this 15th day of July AD 1845 (?1848?). State of Missouri William B. Barnett a Justice of County of Platte the County Court of Platte (state seal) I Daniel P. Lewis Clerk of the County Court with and for the county of Platte and State aforesaid hereby certify that William B. Barnett whose name appears to the foregoing certificate of acknowledgement as judge or justice of the county court of Platte Missouri, was acting as said judge or justice of said court at the time he signed his name to the same, legally elected commissioned and qualified as such judge. And that all his official acts as such, are entitled to full faith and credit of all courts of law as elsewhere, and that the signature purporting to be his is genuine.
