ARNOLD to Jacob BELLIS Nicholas County Courthouse Record Book K, page 158 This indenture made this 10th day of January in the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty four, Between Lewis H. Arnold, and Maria his wife of the County of Nicholas and State of Kentucky of the one part, and Jacob Bellis of the County and State aforesaid, of the other part, Witnesseth: That the said Lewis H. Arnold for in consideration of the sum of six hundred Dollars current money of Kentucky to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged: Hath granted bargained and sold aliened and confirmed, and by these presents do grant and sell, alien and confirmed unto the said Jacob Bellis his Heirs & assigns being described tract or parcel of land supposed to contain about sixty acres (the same more or less) adjoining the said Bellis’s farm on the Brushy Fork, in Carlisle in the County aforesaid and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a red Oak in the lane, near Solo. G. Ward’s Barn and corner of said Ward; thence with his line and in the middle of the road leading to the north of N. 30° E. 22 poles, N. 36° E. 48 poles, N. 26° E. q poles to the line of Samson (sic) Archer and corner to Ward, thence with Sampson Archers line S. 61° E. 22 poles to said Archer’s fence to with another string of fence S. 36 ½ E 30 poles, thence with another line of the said Archer W. 40 ½ poles, to a stake in Bellis’s line, thence with Bellis line S 8 q W. 23 ½ poles, thence Bellis’s line S 4 ½ W 132 poles to Oneal’s corner, a sugar tree (?-?) Hickory, thence with Oneal’s line N. 85 W 48 poles to a hickory & Beech on the east side of the old road leading to (?-?) thence with the line of Thomas M. Chevis and along the meandering said road N. 30° W 20 N 6° W 20 poles, N. about 1° E 57 ½ poles to a big poplar tree corner to said Chevis, and thence along line to the place of beginning - being part of the tract of land conveyed to the said (?Arnold?) by Adam and James McCormicks Heirs (?-?) Together with all and singular the premises and appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof to the said Jacob Bellis and his heirs to have and to hold the tract of land herein before mentioned and ?-? and every part and parcel thereof with every of its appurtenances and improvements the said Jacob Bellis and his heirs. To have and to hold the tract of land herein before mintioned (sic) and (?-?) and every part and parcel thereof, with every of its appurtenances & improvements to the said Jacob Bellis and his heirs, to his and their only proper use benefit, and has forever. And the said Lewis H. Arnold the before mentioned and described tract or parcel of land and premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances against the claims of himself and his heirs and against the claim or demand of all and every other person or person whatsoever to the said Jacob Bellis and his heirs, doth and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Testimony whereof, the said Lewis H. Arnold and Maria his wife have hereunto set their hands and affirmed their seals the day and year first above written. Lewis H. Parks Clerk of the County Court for the county aforesaid do certify that this Deed from Lewis H. Arnold & Maria Arnold his wife to Jacob Bellis, was on this day produced to me in my office, and acknowledged by said Lewis H. Arnold; to be his act and deed. And the said Maria Arnold being examined by me privily and apart from her husband declared she did freely and willing seal and deliver said writing and wishes not to retract it and acknowledged the said writing again shown and explained to her, to be her act and deed, and consenteth that the same may be recorded whereupon the said deed, together with this certificate have been duly admitted to record in the said office.
