He was born in Nicholas County to the late Earl Sr. & Adaline Morris Finch.       He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired Chief of Police after 35 years service with the Carlisle Police Department. He was a member of the VFW, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Kentucky Peace Officers Association.       Other survivors are: three sons - Doug (& Susan) Finch of Cullman, Alabama, Mike (& Mary) Finch of Corbin and Darrell Finch, Flemingsburg; three grandsons - Earl, James & Dylan; three step grandchildren - Marilyn, Joe & Ronda; five step great grandchildren; and a sister - Pearl Adams, Bloomfield Heights, Michigan.       He was preceded in death by a brother, Gayle Finch.       Services were conducted Monday, October 20, at Mathers Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. James Gaunce. Burial with military honors was in Carlisle Cemetery.       Casket bearers were Gerald Adams, Wayne Berry, Herbert Booth, Ronnie Clark, William Earlywine and Dick Garrett.       Honorary bearers were members of the Carlisle Police Department.
