She was born in Greenup County to the late Alfred & Nancy Jackson Bretz.       She was a retired employee of Jockey International, a member of the Nicholas County Fish & Game Club and a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church.       Other survivors are: three sons - James (& Janet) Mitchell of Carlisle and Kenneth (& Nora) Mitchell, Bethel; a daughter - Brenda (& Roy) Gaunce, Carlisle; a sister - Ethel Ring, Carlisle; a daughter-in-law - Jo Ann Mitchell, Carlisle; eight grandchildren - Jimmy Joe Mitchell, Earl Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell, Melissa Mitchell Hill, Timothy Mitchell, Chad Mitchell, Brent Gaunce and Regina Gaunce Gray; 13 great grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.       She was preceded in death by: three brothers - Bill, Jesse James & Herbert Bretz.       Services were conducted Wednesday, October 22, at Mathers-Gaunce Funeral Home by Rev. James Gaunce. Burial followed in Carlisle Cemetery.       Casket bearers were grandsons.       Honorary bearers were granddaughters and great grandchildren.       Contributions are suggested to Johnson Mathers Nursing Home Activities Fund.
