Jd) Monson Mr. Elijah MONSON, a prominent and highly regarded farmer, died of the infirmities of old age at his home seven miles east of Cynthiana last Friday afternoon July 7 in his eighty sixth year. He was born in Bourbon County on December 19, 1825 and married Susan TURLEY in Nicholas county on March 4, 1858, his wife surviving him. He has been a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Chruch for a number of years, and was a splendid elder whom all regarded highly. He was the head of a prominent family, his sons and daughters being among our best people. The serviving children are: Mesars. I.N. and James I. Monson, Mrs. J. D. EVANS, Mrs. B.W. Monson, Mrs. Lafe MAFFETT, and Mrs. R.F. SCOTT, all residents of this county; Mrs. Edwin GAFFIN, of Nicholas County; and Miss Bessie Monson of Birmingham, Alabama. The funeral seervices were held at the residence Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S.H. BURGESS, and the vurial occurred at Battle Grove Cememtery. The pall bearers were James Monson, Lark Monson, Thomas JONES, R. W. RANKIN, J.B. ENDICOTT, Dr. W. F. PHILLIPS, J.W. SMITH and H.F. Maffett.
