R. In Memoriam: MATHERS,---On the morning of the 5th inst. Mrs. Emily Mathers, the wife of our worthy fellow citizen Mr. Barton W. Mathers, passed away from the toils and afflictions of earth to enjoy the rest which remains for the people of God. Her suffering for weeks before her death was intense but it was borne with Christian fortitude. While resigned to the will of God, it was her choice to depart and be with Christ. There were strong ties to bind her to earth. God had given her a devoted husband, an affectionate son, with a happy and prosperous home. But the good fight of faith was fought the race was run and she could truthfully say "come, Lord Jesus, come quickly." By many rare traits of character she had won and held the esteem of all who knew her. In their deep affliction the bereaved have the sympathies of the entire community. Above all they have the comfort of God's sure promises. Married: TRIPLETT---CUNNINGHAM,---At the residence of the brides parents near Sharpsburg Ky., Jan. 27th 1876, by Rev. W. O. Goodloe, Mr. T. T.
