OBIT - Wedding, Washington "Sam", 1881, Ohio Co., KY ---------------------------------- From: RSuthWed1@aol.com Date: Sunday, February 21, 1999 ---------------------------------- Obituary of Washington Samuel Wedding The Hartford Herald Hartford, Kentucky Issue of Nov. 16, 1881 Death of Washington Wedding Washington Wedding , better known as Sam Wedding, was born on the farm now known as the old Wedding farm, 10 miles North-east of Harford, in the years 1825, (owing to the loss of the family record the month and date is unknown) and died of typhoid fever on his farm, one mile North-east of Fordsville, this county, at 3 o'clock Saturday, November 5th, 1881, aged about 54 years. He was married September 8th, 1853, to Miss Susan Young Davisson, then living on the adjoining farm he died on. At 3 o'clock Sunday evening, Nov. 6th, his remains were intereed, as requested by him before his death, on the farm he had lived on for the last 25 years. He leaves a wife and nine children, six sons and three daughters. His oldest son, George W. Wedding, now at home in charge of the farm. Mr Wedding has been in bad health for many years, and during the last number of months had been unable to work but little. He had never joined any church or made a public declaration of religion, but had always told the members of his family who were members of the church to live worthy of the cause they had enlisted in, and a few months before his death he told a lady friend, who called to see him that if he lived to attend the church at Fordsville, and the church would allow him the privilege, he wished to talk in the church at least two hours, that he had a religious experience to relate publicly and never would died satisfied until he had related it; that he most of the religious people about him thought he was an enemy to religion, but they were very mistaken, he wished the christian people well, and had often been sorry at the many grievances arising among religious denominations. Just before he died he said he would like to have lived to see his children grown and settled around him, but if it was the Lord's will to take him away, now he was contented to go.
